Check the BIOS settings first. Then the Windows sound settings.

And don't forget the volume control (non software) on the laptop itself (could be turned right down

When I attempt to enter some competitions ie. on the Daily Telegraph web site, I get the required question, then the space under it where it should say ENTER is blank? I like doing competitions, have time to waste and have won a few times, is there something in my windows security or Norton blocking the position (is it a cookie?) and how do I remove it?

Why have you started a new link on an old question ?.

However, It sounds like a security (firewall/Antivirus) is blocking the sending of information. It could also be , you have not ticked the 'Rules' box in the competition.
