No sound from DVD disk.

The sound has stopped playing on the laptop DVD drive. I have checked as many settings as I could find. Please could someone provide me with a check list in case I have missed something?

Thank you for your tips, tried them all without success. Double checkedall settings and these were OK. Installed AVS DVD player and this worked fine. Therefore conclude that WMP 9 is corrupted somehow. I would be grate ful for any suggestions for rectifying fault on WMP 9. It plays sound from CDs but shows only the film with no sound on DVD.

Have a look at file types in the option menu, or possibly you need a codec pack. WMP 10 is pretty good also.
