No internet and no general drivers after OS instal

I wanted to on install Ubuntu on my laptop on a clean harddisk. No backup Partitions or else. But I found out that not even a single device has been installed. No USB controller, no network. I thought 'ok, then I just install Windows 7 besides' to use it for downloading my ubuntu driver stuff.

Now the strange thing is that the Windows 7 OS has exact the same problem: No internet, no PCi controllers drivers, no generic drivers have automatically been installed. Manual reinstalling of any driver fails in Ubuntu and Windows.

It seems like two fresh systems that are totally unable to communicate with my hardware.

Does anyone have an idea what could have caused this?

Go to the Lenovo web site and you should be able to download some of the drivers required.

Having looked at the Lenovo site there are only drivers for W10 - which is what the laptop came supplied with - This is probably why the drivers fail to install in W7.

I am surprised Ubuntu does not install even basic drivers, which version are you using? A download of the latest, burnt to dvd, and run as a "Live" system is worth trying.
