No internet access despite wireless connection

  silverstone 22:11 03 Oct 2006

I have been trying to connect my daughter's laptop to the internet through the wireless router in her university accom. I have got connection to the D-Link router and am able to transfer files to another computer on the network. However I cannot connect to the internet through Explorer. I have checked Tools/Options/Connection and made sure that connection is to be via LAN and that automatic detection of settings is ticked. Any advice on what else I need to do would be appreciated.

1) Check the client firewalls.
2) Check the host firewall for rules that affect that client.
3) Power down the router and client; leave it for a couple of minutes; power up the router; leave it for another couple of minutes; then power up the client, making sure that the adapter is switched before logging in to a user account.

(Keeping it brief as it's getting late).
