no boot up

Hi guys,
I'm fearing the worst, as I've just refitted my memory sticks after fixing mem coolers. Took all precautions as usual with earthing lead etc. Booted up pc but will only do a memory check, recognise ide drives and graphics card, and then just sits there?? I have tried accessing bios but this just tells me preparing to enter set up and once again nothing. Checked all connections which seem good. Is this the mobo or chip, or could it be something simple I'm missing.?? Running xp on gigabyte k8n sli with sata hard drive and nvidia 6600gt graphics. 2gig of mem. Not sure if I should try removing coolers and refitting memory, although the mem test recognises the 2gig. Any ideas?
