although the sound is being shown as working in the volume mixer(bars are going up and down)on my realtek audio, it doesnt matter which player (vlc, wmp, nero, realone etc) i use... i can get no sound to come from any of them and there are no bars shown. ive checked the muting on them all, none is muted it shows speakers working in the properties, and shows line out connected.

please help

Realtek audio is on-board audio - check that your on-board audio (AC97) is enabled in the BIOS.

Have you check to see if speakers are muted? Right click on Speaker near clock then Properties

Done a recent windows update by any chance

Make certain that you have speakers selected in configuration and not headphones.

Have you checked in Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices>General tab that Mute has not been inadvertently Enabled?

Sometimes it fails to Disable when you use Mute in, say, Windows Media Player.
