The PC running XP that I recently had problems getting to POST has gone wrong again.

I got it up and running and all has been fine until this morning and now it will not run windows.

I get the folowing: 'Windows cannot start the followinf file is missing or corrupt - \Windows\System32\Config\System'

I try doing a REPAIR from disc but this does not work neither has CHKDSK

Followed your link at it opened up to a wealth of info. I have used the instructions for the symptoms I had and I am now getting a different message on start-up but have just downloaded a fix from microsoft.

Message now getting: \Windoes\System32\C_1252.NLS missing or corrupt
