Newly self constructed PC and it doesn't work!!

I have put together for the first time a PC using the following:-

400W PSU
Gigabyte SINXP 1394 MoBo
Gigabyte Maya II Radeon 9700 pro videocard
2X 512Mb DDR 400 ram

On switching on for the first time I got the single 'Beep' as expected and then just blocks of flashing colour on the screen.

The suppliers of the Video card said that they thought it was a U/S video card and are arranging a refund. Does anyone have any views?

Could be - if they are doing that then fine but if you can borrow somebody elses graphics card just to check, there may be other probs with mobo settings or bus speeds etc. Check everything is 100% compatable with everything else in terms of speed, positioning, power requirements and connections. Just a few tips which i hope help. Chris

Sounds like the graphics card to me too.
