New XP in - no sound out

I have just upgraded from ME to XP and have so far got most things going again. However my PC remains silent with no sound output. My sound card is a CREATIVE SOUND BLASTER LIVE. According to the CD-ROM it works on ME; 98 & 2000. Is there a software problem? Have tested all usual places but system insists it is working properly, all mute boxes are unticked and volumes are turned up.

Go to the creative site and downlad latest drivers

I have done that - according to Creative Sound there are no updates available

The mystery deepens - the output works to headphones but not speakers (These are BOSTON Digital BA735)which worked ok on the ME software. Could there be a digital/analogue toggle in SP somewhere?

I had this problem after installing XP. Try plugging your speakers into the blue socket not the green one. Seems to be a driver mismatch somewhere. It worked for me. Other than that you might need to change your sound card.

"These are BOSTON Digital BA735"

Where are they plugged into?

I have this card and yes there should be something like use digital/SPDIF only in control panel sound options.

Can't be more precise as not running Windows at the moment.
