had old 32mb graphics card in pc. Do not play games but use photoshop. bought new 256mb radian 9600, for good price. not dodgy goods. installed, with clean install, new install of XP anmd now new sysyem is slower than with clean install with old card, expecially at start up. have found out that motherboard only supports AGP4.0 and not 8.0. is this the cause.???

No. Have you been into BIOS to change it in there?

The pc works faster if in the bios i uncheck agp4.0 force(on).
if i let the bios secect the agp speed. auto the pc runs much fasater, although i think it is at 2.0. how strange, too run at 2.0 faster than 4.0, for a 8.0 card. I have had this problem with upgrades before - the biggest is not always the best !!
