New PC won't play DVDs - need decoder?

  pc_sausage 20:49 08 Mar 2006

New PC arrived today, all seems okay so far.

Tried to test DVD player with some random DVDs.

Windows Media can't play as:

"a compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer"

Anyone help point me in the right direction?

It's only bloomin' "Ronin" I'm trying to test.

Something for you to try.Not sure if it will work in this case, but worth a go.

Start > My Computer > Right Click the dvd drive > Select Properties > Autoplay > You should have a box displaying Music Files....Scroll through and select dvd Movie.

Post back if it works,i recently had a problem with my power dvd and this cured it.Dont know why.....but it did

But it really sounds like you need the codec pack as SG Atlantis® says.

You may want to try this as an alternative solution if S G Atlantis suggestion dosnt work for you
