new install xp wont work

  wobbler 15:27 11 Sep 2009

My Pc, a dell, got a nasty virus so i decided to reload Xp from DVD as the dell re install had previouly been damaged. The pC is equipped with 2 sata drives so i removed the main one with all my data on and reformatted the 2nd drive and reinstalled it as the primary drive. When i reboot using my Xp disc it loads the files and then i get the BSOD with an 0x0000007e error message and I cant get passed it. I would like some ideas on how to resolve this problem

It might be..
Did you insert the third party drivers for your SATA HDD by pressing F6 when prompted (at bottom of setup screen) while installing from the winXP cd?

I did , but when prompted i realised i had no driver disk. Is it possible to get them from anywhere?

Yes they are on your motherboard driver cd but they need coying to a floppy.

Dell didnt supply the MB disk and the PC has no floppy drive

You should be able to download the drivers from the dell website.

You can put the drivers onto a usb stick and load them from there.

Make a slipstream CD of XP and drivers using nlite click here you can also add the latest service pack to the slipstream CD.

I made the disc as staed but still get the same problem or if i press F6 when booting from xp disc it requestes the raid driver from the A: drive, which i havent got!!
