New hard drive and want to open documents on old

  RobbyMac 22:39 10 Jan 2008

Hi not sure if this can be done!
I have installed a new hard drive with a fresh version of XP.
I also have the old hard drive in the PC complete with old XP as well.
I want to open documents in my old documents folder but receive access denied message.
Is there any way around this?
I have in the past removed the new hard drive and then was able to retrive important documents but don't want to take PC to bits again.
Just after the lottery syndicate spreadsheet for work on this occasion.
Thanks in advance.

Hi skidzy.
Took a few goes following the instructions but got there eventually.
Saves me making an entire new spreadsheet just because we have a new member of staff that has joined our syndicate.
It keeps track as to who has paid and how many weeks.
I owe you several beers.
I thought I had taken all the important files off the old hard drive but left it in just in case. Then an example such as this pops up.
I had searched the Microsoft web site without success.
Great stuff.
Once again thanks for the info.
