my old hard drive failed due to old age !
i thought it would be a good idea to purchase a bigger hard drive 160 gb . ( my old was a 40 gb ).
all went well with the installation except now when i boot up it takes ages , about 2 minutes.
i have tryed some tweeks but these have very little affect.
is the problem my bigger hard drive and the fact that my pc has to read a bigger drive on boot up ? .
i am running xp pro , and have recently installed service pack two as well as all advised updates from microsoft.many thanks.

2 minutes is nothing to worry about, if your computers working ok it is best not to alter settings.

The Problem is not your drive it's SP2. You need to stop background programs running
