New forum area for SP2

We're starting to see an increase in the number of threads about Windows XP SP2 as the download rate from the Windows update site begins to accelerate. It seems to make sense to keep all SP2 threads in one place, so we're adding a special SP2 forum where we can more easily deal with the questions that arise.

We hope that the forum will appear at some point on Friday, so watch out for it in the blue list at the top left of your pages - where it says 'Registered Users Area'.

Once we're up and running I'll begin moving all SP2 threads over to the new forum from here, so keep posting in the helproom for the time being.

This thread is also appearing in Consumerwatch.

Please consult your Dummies book. Although I don't think it will be SP'd 2'd - in fact no it isn't. ;-))))

Thin edge of the wedge, next we could have SP3, then the next OS, then the SP's for that.....?

How about a separate forum for those who post more than a certain number of threads each Day/Week/Month!!!

All I can say is if those loading SP2 made a Image of there disc before loading it, It would be a lot easier on hear

I second that and I made a copy of my hard drive using Drive Image 7 BEFORE downloading SP2 but fortunately I have had NO problems lucky ole me!

It may be but it's not just going to stop working, plus there is more Software that will run on 98se than XP

  CurlyWhirly 23:24 26 Aug 2004

For the record I personally have had NO problems whatsoever with Windows XP apart from when I got infected with the MS Blaster worm last year which was MY fault as I didn't bother to download security patches.

I hasten to add that I have learnt my mistake and now put auto-updates on by default.
XP is the most stable operating system that Microsoft have EVER produced IMHO.
If you are happy with Windows 98 SE that is okay too as you haven't GOT to upgrade it is the individuals choice.
