I have a advent 500mb celeron running windows 98.
recently I had to replace the cdrom with a LGD-8522B but now when I turn the computer on I always get the massage :
INTERFACE BOARD OR CD-ROM DRIVE IS NOT READY. INSURE THAT DRIVE POWER IS ON AND DRIVE CABBLES CORRECTLY ATTACHED.
as I have already double checked the cables and I can run the cdrom through the sound card .
please could I have some surgestions of how to solve this problem.

i have just had this same problem it isn,t fully resolved yet but it gets me there i have a floppy & cd for recovery, to get around it i had to go to run/find/files find oakcdrom.sys copy to desktop then change name to cddrv, sys then copy to the recovery floppy, make sure you do this on a copy of your recovery floppy then it started the recovery and ran the cd, after a few problems getting through the recovery when windows came up i had to delete autoexec & config sys file from C: hidden files, this is working for my advent 8575 but pc service call are supposed to be sending me a new floppy
good luck
