Have been using one through Cisco but am after one that can do more.

I currently use Packet Tracer 4.0 via Cisco.

To sim cisco kit:

Packet tracer 5 is out.

The only other really is GNS3.

Or just spend a few quid and buy yourself a lab - nothing beats real kit.

To sim microsoft:

virtual pc, free from microsoft
virtual server again from microsoft

And also have a look at building a DIY Lab.

would any of you know what if any computer specs would be necessary for cisco simulator?

Packet tracer 5 works on any modern PC.

Just download it and try.

hi, thanks for that. I've had a look at the specs of Packet tracer 5 and it does seem my laptop will do, though I have integrated graphics and sound.
