Network Problems

I have recently experienced several problems with out network. It consists of a domain controller and 3 24 port switches. There are about 40 computers connected over a wire and recently we have had 11 wireless points and some security cameras added to it. So theres no an extra 40 laptops connecting wirelessly different times. However over the past couple of months I have noticed that at busy times during the day from a network perspective, the switches have gone mad, stopping data passing through causing data collisions. The switches are 10/100mb belkin switches and are pretty cheap really, is it possible that there is just too much running on this system for what the switches can handle. Do I need to upgrade to some better manageable gigabit switches?

Many thanks

What time are scheduled back-ups made?

This can cause a problem...

I recently changed the switches for gigabit switches as I came to the conclusion that this network was overloaded. Think I made the right choice as everything seems to be working fine now.
