One of the PC's on my network can surf the net fine, but when it comes to updating/registering Windows or updating virus definitions I get the message whatever> can find an internet connection.
The Laptop shows up in My Network Places but when I type the (UNC) name in the run command it returns the message The network path was no found,
If I double click on it in My Network Places>MSHOME>Laptop I get the message "Laptop not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator or this server to find out if you have access permissions. (that’s me, I don’t know why)
Also MSN won't work on that PC, All the others are fine Error code 80072efd
Please help this is driving me made
PS it seems to have happened around the time I uninstalled SP2

I'm new to this networking ;but i think you have answered your question, feel sure removing sp2 is your problem as sp2 has alot more security.

I assume you had problems with sp2 hence the reason for its removal. There are many threds here regarding sp2 issues just type sp2 in the search forum. Also
click here If you can succesfully install sp2 then i think it would solve your problem.
