Well there are a few. Is this an Office problem? ie, word, if so this is a common problem and M$ has a page on it.. Is this also a network problem? ie, does it take an age to find all the machines on the network?
Another way is to stop XP searching for other printers and scheduled tasks on the network by Opening regedit and navigating to
Export the NameSpace key and then delete the two keys (a bunch of long
numbers and letters) under NameSpace, which are the "Printers" and
"Scheduled Tasks" keys. This will stop Windows Explorer from searching
other computers for Scheduled Tasks and Printers.
Is the printer spooling?
