Network configuration - Window XP

  pj1664 10:49 25 Sep 2004

I need help,I have just install Windows XP on one of my PC's but It can't communicate with my other pc or browse the net. I need to configure my network card but I cant understand the concept of how to in win.XP. How do I put a IP addres, default gateway etc. etc.... and finally it seem like win.XP has its own firewall, How do I deactivate it. Win.Xp is all new to me not like win 98 but I think its time to change and move on, so if anyone out there can help me I would appreciate it very much.
