Network - 2 PCs

  CDL 21:37 28 Jan 2006

I have 2 PC s - "AWAY" and "HOME" and have connected them via a NETVIN hub to create a LAN

On the one I refer to as "AWAY" I can access the shared folders etc on the other - "HOME" but I am unable to do the reverse; ie access "AWAY" from "HOME"
I get the following error message :

\\AWAY is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource.Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

Logon failure:the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer.

Both have the same Realteck cards and I seem to have tried everything !

What have I missed ?!

Thanks fot that, Fruit Bat /\0/\. Sorry about the late response - been away !

Well, I tried all those 'remedies' but to no avail - still get a message "Not Avaliable".

The 'other' machine can access this one, no problem at all. This one can see the other but that's all - no access. I've been into all (?) the security settings on both and they are the same,so can't understand why I can't access the 'other'.

(I would have thought that having "use simple file sharing" checked on both would have been sufficient anyway)
