Netgear wireless connection

  [DELETED] 15:53 30 Jun 2006

I have been given an Netgear WIG111T usb wireless adaptor, which should connect around the 108 mbps mark to my Netgear WPN824 mimo router.

My dilemma is that i can only manage 54mbps at best. Both units are generally set to default settings. The connection is secured and the SSID is not broadcast.

Because this has come from a friend who no longer requires it i feel i can not badger Netgear with this.

My laptop has a built-in 54mbps wireless facility.

depends what your ISP is giving you, anything like BT the max is about 8mbps..

You could try the latest driver/firmware updates click here

I find I can (and am) using 802.11b at 11Mb/sec on a BT ADSL 2Mb connection without any problems (ie it's just as fast as connecting by ethernet cable).
