Netgear SC101

I am thinking of buying one of these to add to my network. I currently have a Buffalo Linkstation NAS 120GB drive (because it has a print server in it) which I use for backups of data from my desktop.

I am starting to use it to hold My Documents so that I can access it from the desktop or the laptop without actually having the files on the desktop or laptop.

However, I do regular backups of the data onto DVD and I am looking to make that simpler. I could add an external USB drive to the Linkstation but the Linkstation will have to format the drive in a certain way which will mean, should the Linkstation fail, I would not just be able to plug the USB drive into the computer.

I have read that the SC101 will accept 2 IDE drives and uses RAID technology to mirror the data to avoid/minimise data loss. Am I right in thinking that this would be the best option to use on the network?

Any advice is welcome.

Cheers

Ross
