Nervous about updating Drivers-any advice?

  buel 20:00 02 Jan 2010

Hi, i am currently following FruitBat's advice to speed up a laptop, one of the main bits of advice was to update the drivers of whichever laptop you are working on.
Well i have now got to the appropriate HP website

but am unsure/nervous about updating any/all of them, any advice please?

if your nervous set a system restore point first then update the drivers then if you dont like the result you can either go into device manager and roll back the appropriate drivers or just system restore back to before you updated but usualy newest drivers are better and safe and ive always found fruitbats advice to be spot on.

Depends what your initial problem area was but start with chipset, install and reboot then graphics, install and reboot and so on, doesnt really matter what order you install others.

then don't do it

Updating drivers will make little difference as long as you have done all the other things in the list.

The trick with windows is to get it to run as few things as possible hence cutting down on start up programs and services that aren't needed.
