Need help stopping a program from accessing a site

  jamesgod1979 13:37 02 Dec 2015

Ok, here is the problem. I have a program that auto updates itself and there is no way to turn this off. I like the version I have and don't want it to update. The problem is that if I disable to program from accessing the web to stop the update, it will disable certain features in the program that need to connect to the web. Is there a way to stop the program from connecting to a certain website and allow communication with the rest of the net?

Would help if you said what the program is and what Op/Sys you are using.

Is there a way to stop the program from connecting to a certain website.....?

Yes there is. Providing you know the address then you can block access to it by adding an entry to the Windows HOSTS file. Have a read here.

Note that you can't block certain programs so it'll be a global block affecting all programs on that PC.
