Necessary pc build to edit digital video

I would like opinions on what kit is considered necessary in the build of a pc to enable video editing.

Highest spec you can pay for, and oodles of HD space. Speed and ease of use will need all you can afford.

Your looking at some serious hardware here. I'm in the middle of having a video editing suite being built and it aint cheap. I don't have the full specs at the mo, they're still being finalised but if you have a realistic budget the check out DataNext Computer Systems. They specialise in this sort of stuff.

Thanks Diemess. Firewire? USB2? What video card? Lots of questions. I am new at this.

Thanks Ben. I am probably misleading you slightly in that I am after the best connection ports in order to shunt gear from camera to pc. I do not want to get ripped off by sales offering me something I don't need.
