NEC dvd Driver Help

  beattyben 18:32 18 Dec 2006

Seasons Greetings to all Forum members
HELP required. A friend recently had to reinstall Windows XP Home, serious system crash. The NEC ND_3500AG driver does not work for video's but plays music CD's on windows mediaplayer (it's the only CD/DVD drive on the machine). There's no NEC backup disk (but that's PC World for you).

The NEC website gives me no clues as to how to download the drivers/codecs. I have looked at various websites and it looks like the video codecs will have to be paid for. Surely this can't be right!. As always your help is always gratefully received.

All the best Carol

You only need the basic Windows CDROM driver for an optical drive (installed automatically) and skidzy's suggestion is the most logical answer.

Also make sure that DVD is Enabled from WMP's Tools>Options>File Types.
