  march 16:08 24 Mar 2010

have started getting a message when using IE window pops up saying

a program on your computer has corrupted your default search provider setting for IE
IE has reset this setting to your original search provider my web search (click here)
IE will now open search settings where you can change this or install more search providers

when I go to more search providers ‘my web search’ is set as 'default' but 'not available' and will cannot delete it

also cannot change it back to google as 'default'
I have run hijack this but it doesn’t come up with anything untoward

nothing installed in programs

any suggestions please

Try this - in Internet Explorer, Tools>Internet Options>Home Page, click on Use blank, press Enter on keyboard. Then go to Internet Options/Home Page again and type in the URL for whichever you want as your Home page - press Enter again. Hopefully that should do it. Hope I have not forgotten anything!
