My PC blew up!!!!

Hey people, yesterday we were having a bit of a problem with the electrics in my house, anyway went to turn my pc on a bit later and the thing would not respond at all. Tried changing the voltage and my power supply gave out an almighty bang followed by the smell of smoke. I've opened her up and everything still seems ok (apart from the power supply). I know this is a bit vague but would that sort of thing have fried my whole motherboard or is it just a case of buying a new power supply?

Thanks very much in advance

What do you mean by trying to change the voltage,
do you mean from 240 to 110

yeah, I thought the switch said off on from a distance. But the computer wasn't even on at this point and it still blew

You changed the voltage???

I would say you need a new comp, PSU Motherboard CPU and memory at least

You can try a new power supply and hope that the resulting power surge has not damaged any components but I would say you will have to replace more than the mobo

any power supply i have seen has never had a switch that allowed you to change the voltage like this.its usually changed by using a small screwdriver to move the setting it not via a switch.

if this is what you did you may have blown the mobo aswell as the power supply.

well the only way to find out if you need all the other components is if you buy the PSU first, install it and see if the rest of your PC boots up. You'll know there and then.
