My laptop chrashes when I plug in my HD.

I have a SiliconPower external hard drive and a few months back I had to transfer some files from my laptop to a older one and since then it's been unusable. Whenever I plug it in the laptop crashes,I can't access the properties and it seems my laptop doesn't even see it as a storage unit, I have tried it with other computers and it's the same. There isn't anything wrong with the ports, and I have al the right software. I don't need to recover the files,I would just like to have the HD working.

Any help would be appreciated.
