Music Files do not play, Vista Home Premium

  Dan Electro 11:34 03 Feb 2008

I can not play a music file on my my Vista Home Premium machine. The bar moves but no sound. Videos are fine - there is sound with them. I have switched to my wifes user account and everything is fine, and I can play the files on iTunes. Any ideas? I have had a couple of interesting problems that began after Microsoft sent down a couple of security updates recently.

No takers I'm afraid. Think it is a media player problem.

Is your wifes account the administrator?

Are the sound setting on your account set to low or mute?

What is the file format?

Both my wifes and amine are administrators. The sound settings are fine - I can play a DVD. Any audio format WMA, MP3 for the most part.
