music enhancer

A freind of mine has put some old music tapes on to C.D.for me unfortunatly the sound quality isnt very good,I have installed the file from the CD onto my harddrive is there any easy to use programme out there that will take the 'hiss,crackle etc out and restore to near CD quality sound.would realy appreciate any help.

Try the free Audacity click here - you'll need to play around a bit as it's not that straightforward. You'll also require the free MP3 encoder click here.

Rip the CDs to your hard drive into MP3 format first then load each one at a time into Audacity & 'clean' them. Finally, when your happy with the result export each as an MP3 file. G

itunes has an audio enhancer but i've never used it.
