I thought the following might be of interest to experimenters out there. I recently attempted to install two operating system on my machine. In the process I managed to corrupt the master boot record. The quick fix for this problem is to run fdisk with the following suffix /mbr. This clears out any lilo loader info and allows windows to boot normally. This corruption effectively stops the boot up process and unless you are in the know creates "headache" Hope this may be of use to someone with simlar problems!
