Multiple opening windows in Windows 7

  muserocks123 10:44 09 Nov 2009

Everytime i click on a folder in Windows 7 it opens it in a new window. This has only just started to happen. I've checked my settings and it's sent to open them in same window and therefore don't know what's wrong.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for this, how do you run these though?

Found a fix

At least, one that worked for me. In case anyone else experiences this problem, you need to register a couple of possibly missing or corrupted dll's. Run the following two commands at an elevated command prompt:

regsvr32 "%SystemRoot%\System32\actxprxy.dll"
regsvr32 "%ProgramFiles%\Internet Explorer\ieproxy.dll"

This also fixes an issue with new tabs not opening correctly in IE8. Ticking resolved.

I tried typing them into thr 'run' program, but doesn't like it.

Go Start – Control Panel – Folder Options – Select “Open each folder in the same window”

Click View Tab – Select “Show Hidden Files, Folder, and Drive”

Click “Apply to Folders” click Apply and OK
