MSN Skype video call issues

Hi there
this may sound like a long story but here goes!

I've used MSN for video calls for ages with no problem until a couple of weeks ago I downloaded Skype. Immediately upon using Skype and attemtpting a video call my computer froze. I checked task manager which had my CPU usage at 100%. I signed out of Skype and ever since then have had problems whenever I use MSN for a video call. There's no problem just using webcam but as soon as I attempt a video call it's starts to break up and proves impossible to use.

I'd be grateful for any advice about what the problem may be.
