Hi all

can anyone rember how to get rid of this pop up...

Its the grey box which keeps asking me if i want to go to certain sites ( not the kind i want to thank you) ...i know their is a way just cant remeber how

Start/Control Panel/Admin Tools/Services....Messenger..disable.

Removes WINDOWS MESSENGER(the producer of these Popups)not Msn Messenger,which,believe it or not,is a different app. ;-)

1.Click Start->Settings ->Control Panel

2.Click Administrative Tools

3.Click Services

4.Double click Services Scroll

5.down and highlight "Messenger"

6.Right-click the highlighted line and choose

7.Click the STOP button.

8.Select Disable or Manual in the Startup Type scroll bar

9.Click OK

Tied this (AubreyS suggestion)but the associated info text on the 'Services' panel claims that 'this messenger service is NOT part of Windows Messenger'!
Still need to be sure thar the vague warnings on this info text aresafe to ignore.

Messenger service is different to "Windows messenger" - the latter is akin to Yahoo Messenger etc while the former is a process which allows messages to be sent to ip addresses. You can safely disable it as suggested.
