MSI geoforce FX5200 upgrade

  the old man 10:34 20 Sep 2003

I have just bought myself the above card and upgraded from a riva tnt2 ultra. system running on Athlon XP2000+ WITH 256 RAM AND WINXP. Anyway when the computer boots screen is fine for a couple of minutes then it degrades and then gets to the stage that when i done things the screen goes black for a second and then image is back. whilst i am typing this there are speckles of blue and red on parts of the screen and the cursor looks as if there is a kind of interference somewhere which is causing the disturbance.
any ideas please.

Start your system in Safe Mode (keep pressing the F8 key) - and choose VGA display - if it's OK then, then it's probably a display driver problem.

You should have had a CD with drivers on - and you can get the latest from the nvidia site.

But check in safe mode and post back first please. If it doesn't work in safe mode with VGA selsected, then it's possible the card is faulty.
