My father-in-law asked me to take a look at his PC because of an annoying recurrent problem: After booting up, the file ttembed was being displayed in notebook on the desktop. In an effort to resolve this problem I renamed the file (same thing happened) and then deleted it. On the next boot the file msfntmap appeared instead. Any thoughts on what this could be about?

msfntmap.ini is settings for Microsoft Word.

Thanks for the prompt reply Gaz 25. The registery confirms the sysedit list of start up applications. However, none of these appear to have any connection with these two files. Any other ideas?

Can you remove the registry start-up entries, try that!

If not let me know.

Oh, Make a sys restore before doing so!

Gaz 25. Sorry to waste your time. I had somehow missed an entry for office shortcut bar that turned out to be the problem. Thanks for your help.
