MS Word problem

  roland rat69 06:13 20 Mar 2008

Good morning,
I am using MS XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2 and MS Word 2002.
When ever i click on a MS Word document to open, it always open in notepad and never looks right.
however, if i save the document somewhere, then open MS Word, then open the document it works.
Anyone got any ideas or having the same problem?
This has also happened recently to someone else i know

Thanks in advance

Open Windows Explorer and right click the document you want to open in Word. (It will have a notepad Icon) Choose Open With and select Word - make sure you select the tick box "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" Click OK and the job should be done.

Oh Yes You do! Quick short cut press the Windows Key and E Key together. It`s similar to My Computer. In fact I think you can achieve the same result from there as well.

to open Windows Explorer

rightclick on 'My Computer' choose 'explore'

rightclick on 'My Documents' choose 'explore'

rightclick on 'My Pictures' choose 'explore'

or 'Start' > 'All programs' > 'Accessories' > 'Windows Explorer'

- Windows Explorer is everywhere... :))
