MS Word files change dramatically in size

Can any tell me why, after editing a completed document, the MS word doc file will often drop in size by say a factor of six, yet the content stays the same?

Some of the things that can bloat a Word document are graphics, "Fast Save" enabled, tables, TrueType Fonts are embedded.

I understand what you say Gong, but how is it that the size alters so with each edit? It goes up and down, say from 680Kb to 102kb and then back again when one re-edits?

This is what MS have to say about this behaviour click here

Thank you. I see it all now!
