mpeg file splitting

I need a program (preferably freeware) that will split a large mpeg file into two smaller ones. Can anyone help please

Perhaps I should have made myself clear.
I need to split the mpeg file and be able to use each part separately after.
What has happened is I recorded an hour long program from my tv card and the file is 2.16GB so if I copy it on to a dvd disc and try to play it in a stand alone dvd player it will only play the first half hour then stops.

thanks for that program, it works well with smaller large files such as 800MB but I tried it with the 2.16GB file I want to split and it doesn't recognise the file.

How are you writing the mpeg file to the DVD? as an mpeg file, or are you converting to standard VOB dvd files?

If you are converting, then in the software you use to convert to DVD files there may be an option to only create VOB's of a certain size.

Otherwise try > click here < their Video cutter and splitter is free at the moment.

Apologies if Terry is correct, I didn't download it myself. Just Googled for "Freeware Mpeg File Splitter"
