hi, my grandaughter wants a mp3 player, in it's most basic form, what is the difference? I assume they both connect to the PC and you drag the tracks onto it.......thanks..

The difference is merely the way the files are stored - on chips, or on a hard drive. A hard drive is higher capacity, but easier to damage (if you drop it, for instance). Flash versions theses days can stote more than enough songs without needing a hard drive IMHO.

They will almost certainly come with software for transferring files into the player.
