MP3 Player Write-Protected

My sister has just bought an mp3 player, I connected it to my PC which XP picked up no problem but when I open the player and drag and drop any music files I get

"Error Copying File Or Folder.

Cannot copy: The disk is write-protected.

Remove the write-protection or use another disk.

So what do I do? Thanks in advance.

Does it use Secure Digital cards? If so you'll find that the cards have a switch on the side (as with a floppy) to prevent accidental erasure or use.

Not sure if other memory cards have the same feature as I only use SD or MMC cards.

We all learn by our mistakes ;-)

Don't worry. The Minolta digital camera I bought a couple of years ago uses Secure Digital (or MMC) cards and it was several weeks before I noticed the lock facility on the SD card at the time...:-)
