Mouse Pointer Freezes on Start up

  BoilerOil 14:39 28 Oct 2006

Can anyone help me.when I switch on my computer it boots up
then a blue page appears with the words Starting up Windows
then another page with those on the computer.

At this time it is still loading, then it just stops and the mouse
freezes, all I can do then is press the restart button.

When the computer will go through the same routine and the mouse
will then freeze.

Thank You for Your Help.

Is the mouse plug fully in the socket? (assuming a wired mouse)

If a wireless mouse, is the battery OK?

  BoilerOil 15:39 28 Oct 2006

It's a wireless mouse I have put new batteries in the mouse and the keyboard.

This restarting can go half a dozen times or more
for the last two days I have left the computer on stand by.

Do I understand you correctly, Windows loads OK and you can use it but the mouse does not work? Or does Windows stop loading at that point?

  BoilerOil 16:39 28 Oct 2006

Windows stops loading at that point, and I cannot
use it.

This is beginning to feel like a Windows freeze rather than a mouse problem. If it is it may be worth allowing this thread to run but start another with the windows does not load title where ithers may help on that point.

If or when windows gets past this point and loads
the mouse and every thing else works perfect that is why I have left it on stand by for the last two days.
