Motherboard monitor

There is a facility on the asus a7a266 motherboard named asus pc probe. When i installed this to check the fans, voltages and temperature, i found that not all of the fans were found and also 1 of the temperatures was-1! Unlikely! Any ideas why the motherboards own utility could not detect its own fans? I know the fans are there and working, the system is working fine was just being nosey.

Fans have to have a tachometer to be sensed. You can tell if they have one, as there will be three wires from the fan, rather than just two.

The PSU fan frequently does not even have a monitoring output connector from the PSU - in this case it will never be found.
