Motherboard gone - is CPU OK?

Hi there

A friends PC was not working, so I had a look. It would not even switch on, so I thought it would be the PSU, or possibly the MB.

I plugged the PSU into my PC, to test it, and I was right. The PSU didn't work. Then I plugged my PSU back into my MB and AGGGH - nothing!

So a faulty PSU has killed off my MB. (It was an expensive PSU as well.)

Now, I was wondering if the CPU, Memory, PC cards would be OK? And is it OK to test them by putting them into another MB or will it be damaged as well?

Any ideas welcome.

Recheck all connections before you panic.

This is the one problem with substitution as a fault finding method.
