most of the icons on desktop have shortcut arrow l

just started the other evening, i noticed tha nearly all my icons on desktop have the little shortcut arrrow at the bottom, i know i have seen the question before but cant find it running xp pro ie 6 sp2

Maybe thats because the 1's with the arrows are shortcuts.

click here I think it's TweakUI that gets rid of the little arrows.

Down the right hand side blue column the 147kb one named TeakUI. Run the program go to Explorer click Shortcut and check the circle none.

On the rh side of the linked page click on Tweak UI (the top one of the 2) when asked whether to run or save go to save (to a suitable location) then 2 click on the downloaded file and it will install. Open up tweakui and click on the + against Explorer then click on shortcut.
