More issues with connecting to my 2.4ghz wifi sign

  Dave Edwards 23:27 13 Apr 2019

I recently asked here about why my PS4 wasn't connecting to the internet, I have since solved this issue but it has returned, I'm now aware the PS4 doesn't support a 5ghz signal so I'm attempting to run it from a 2.4ghz signal, the only issue is my 2.4ghz signal is performing very badly. It's going on and off and I can't get any connection in the upstairs of my house, downstairs next to the router I can get a whopping 2.1Mbps Down and a 3.5Mbps Up which obviously is very weak because we were promised 35Mbps down by our EE provider. I am with EE and our router is a Bright box 2. I have attempted to change the channels which had a temporary fix which then just stopped working one night and hasn't worked since. It's not the router as the 5Ghz signal is working flawlessly, any help? Thanks. I'm trying to avoid phoning the ISP.

It probably is the router just try rebooting it to start with. unplug the router, wait about 20 seconds then plug it back in.

if that doesn't next try a reset to factory settings click here

It sounds like port forwarding settings may require tweaking if the PS4 is running slowly on the 2.4ghz connection. What happens when you connect other devices to the same connection do they run as slowly too?

Try Sony's troubleshooter here which might help solve the issue with the PS4.
