Just got home and looked at my monitor to find the screen was unviewable- everything a very dull grey. When trying to increase the contrast it wasnt moveable. I reset my p.c but now get the error message "signal out of range hs 8ak VS 80hz. Have plugged in another monitor which works fine. Anybody got an idea what the problem is and what to do? Have I missed somthing obviousmonitor is only 6 months old

keep taping F8 when you switch on the computer, select safe mode from the list that appears.

once in safe mode go to control panel/display and set your screen to say 800x600 or 1024x768 also click advanced/monitor for the refresh rate settings and tick "hide modes this monitor cannot display"

If huggy`s advice does not give you any results take it back to where you purchased it because if it is only 6 months old it will be covered by a minimum 12 month warranty.

I once had this problem after setting a refresh rate (by accident with too quick a mouse click) of considerably more than 100MHz instead of my normal 85MHz on an iiyama monitor - it took some time to be able to get it to work again....:-)

The graphics card was capable but the monitor certainly wasn't.
